Many riders (and one of them could be you!) will ride to and/or roll, run, walk around Computers and Writing 2012 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 16, 2012. There are several ways that you can help to send a starving grad student to C&W 2012:

  • Become a rider! Join a route or create your own. Convince your friends to ride, too. Register here and we’ll shout it out for our fund raising efforts.
  • Share this site with your friends and beg for donations (see “The Fine Print” page for details);

*RideStream is a web-based service and mobile application developed for Ride2CW by Bill Hart-Davidson, Mike McLeod, and a fabulous team of undergraduate researchers/developers at MSU WIDE. RideStream allows riders, supporters, and others who may be interested to coordinate their participation in the event.

These grad students and non-tenure track/non-tenured faculty need our funding and we need their participation at Computers and Writing. To that end, I’m announcing our first Ride2CW Fundraising Sprint:

The May 1, 2011 “Donate to Keep Joyce from Falling off the Bike (again) Ride2CW Fundraising Sprint”

Last year, Joyce Walker had a bike accident and broke her hip (ouch!), but that is not stopping her from getting back on the bike for Ride2CW this year (cue HBO Real Sports theme song and Bryant Gumbel voiceover). Donate at any time on the May 1, 2011 sprint and special smooth-road wishes and positive energies will be directed at Joyce as she heads down the KalHaven Trail. Of course, you will also simultaneously be supporting the GRN Travel Grant Award funding.

On a happy note, Joyce Walker may spend some time on the bike between Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor, coming off in injured reserve after last year’s biking accident broken hip.
