I am *not* riding 84.5 miles to Durham and back. At least not unless
you all help me. Here’s how:

There are 4 loops of varying lengths that Rik Hunter so lovingly
mapped out for us. I’ve registered to ride the shortest one (21
miles). If you think I should ride more, you need to meet my
fundraising goals:

21 mile loop = $175
28 mile loop = $250
38 mile loop = $500
84.7 mile loop = $750

Under this model, you’re actually donating *less per mile* for the
longest ride compared to the second-longest. And, I’ma let you finish,
but I do not really want to ride all the way to Durham and back. The
weather’s been crap in Illinois, and I haven’t been training very
much. I’ll do it, however, if you insist. Because that’s how much I
love you all, and the GRN! Following Dickie’s lead, this week only I
will match the first $175 that folks donate.

For those who don’t know, a group of C&W people ride to and at the Computers and Writing Conference each year to raise money for the Graduate Research Network (GRN, What’s that?)<http://class.georgiasouthern.edu/writling/GRN/2012/index.html>. This year I’ll match every sponsor dollar up to $200. My mode of transportation is a little odd. I will be roller skiing (think inline skating with poles, link below) about 20 miles during the two days prior to the conference (May 15 and 16).

Please do let me know (individually OFF LINE) if you would like to sponsor my efforts, so I’ll know how much to match. I will be skiing on these two trails during those days and tweeting as I go if phone signals allow:
